Cromargan® Cromargan®: stainless steel 18/10 is a registered WMF trademark and has excellent functional properties. Cutlery made of the tried-and- tested material Cromargan® is resistant against food acids, neutral in taste, stainless and dishwasher-safe. Cromargan protect® Cutlery must be able to withstand the demands of everyday use and still look good even after many years and runs through the dish- washer. The Cromargan protect® material offers all these qualities. A special patented finishing procedure increases the hardness of the material’s surface to make it even more resistant to scratches and signs of wear. Polished surfaces therefore stay shiny, matt finishes stay matt. The cutlery looks almost as good as new even after years of use.

carefully rounded. Knives have to be able to cut well. There are two basic types of knives:

without Cromargan protect®

with Cromargan protect®

Forged knives They are forged from a single piece of stainless blade steel and hardened as a whole. The hardening process ensures good cutting properties and corrosion resistance.

Knife with inserted, forged steel blade The two-part knife combines design with optimal usage properties. Cromargan protect® handles adopt the style of the other cutlery items and make complex designs possible. The blade is made of special blade steel. It is forged and specially hardened so it retains its sharpness and elasticity for a long time. The handle and blade are well balanced, seamlessly joined and sit flush. This gives the knife its pleasant feel and fits well in the hand.

THE PRODUCTION OF CROMARGAN PROTECT®

Raw material

Embossing & milling

Blade stainless special blade steel: elaborately forged and ground.

Tines uniform cross-sections, ground smooth, and slightly chamfered on the inside.

In the following manufacturing process, only high-quality material is used. The process involves between twenty and thirty work steps. And all the steps are constantly monitored by the quality management team in Heshan. Cromargan protect® is a refined stainless steel composed of 18% chrome and 82% steel. The material is subjected to a thermochemical finishing process by heating it in a vacuum furnace to over 1,000°C. In the process, nitrogen is generated under pressure, which binds to the surface material. It is then cooled down rapidly, creating a hard surface layer. Protect is therefore not an additional layer, but a hard- ening of the surface by changing its composition.
